Vodafone Dashboard V9.2.1.6545
With the new cards Vodafone have lauched a slightly ammended dashboard version, Mobile Connect 9.2. This has suppport for the new devices (Huawei Express E870 and USB E270 and also the Option Express card “Etna”. Along with this it seems to offer some improvements over the built in optimisation client (the client can be fully omitted using a custom install resolving various issues with other apps such as messenger, AOL, Skype etc) and also problems experienced on older dashboards resulting in Wlan and Lan connections failing with page cannot be displayed. Enjoy…

Still waiting for 64-bit support on Dell D630 Vodafone 5520 card.
I’ve seen that Vodafone Germany is offering Maintenance Release 9.2.4.7868 of Dashboard on their site… Haven’t tried it yet, but it looks like it’s only in German…

Hi there. I have been trying to get some advice and wonder if anyone here can help. I have an E220 vodafone mobile connect running on XPSP2 using USB 2.0; vodafone spain. My download rate seems to be fixed at 15kb, way below the promised 3.6mg. Signal strength is fair. Is there anything I can do to alter this seemingly fixed rate ?
grateful for any help
thanks for your time

Hello again. I have been browsing this site and found the firmware update. Will this firmware be ok to use with vodafone spain ?
Thanks once again

…and yet again. If the firmware is ok to use, do I just install it or is there anything else I should do before hand, eg disconnect the modem; remove the data card ?
thanks again

Hi
Cool
Thanx

Vodafone’s femtocell won’t improve mobile broadband
Vodafone UK have just announced the availability of thier new “3G coverage booster”, aka a 3G femtocell. This little box of tricks plugs into your home broadband connection and routes calls over the internet and onto Voda’s network. This is welcome news for those of us with 3G handsets who are unable to access data services or make reliable voice calls due to poor coverage.
However, it’s not great news for mobile broadband users. Although it’s unclear if the femtocell supports higher speed technology (HSDPA), the fact that it routes the data over your ADSL connection should be enough reason to rule it out. If you’ve got ADSL at home, why bother using your mobile broadband allowance when fixed line is far cheaper and faster?

E220 7.2Mbps Firmware – version 11.117.10.02.00
Big thanks to the guy’s who pointed out that there’s a new firmware available for the E220. Version 11.117.10.02 continues to bring 7.2Mbps support to the modem and is a recommended update for all users.
You can download the installer from M1’s website, or download a cached copy here.

Improving your mobile broadband coverage

Great post here from Farmers Weekly – not on my normal feed list but could be one to add… A farmer in the UK has been struggling to get decent mobile broadband speeds from his three dongle so he’s stuck it on a tube and hoisted it 6 meters into the air!

any idea how to disable the limits, under the ‘view usage.’ I got e870 in Hong Kong, and am paying for an unlimited rates, so I’d prefer it not to disconnect me when I reach a certain limit.
I’ve set it currently to 2GB(2048MB), but would like to turn if off totally. The ‘lite’ version doesn’t have this, but it loses some of the other features.
