Using Apple iChat with Mobile Broadband

ichat with mobile broadbandI've struggled for months to get Apple's iChat AV working with my data card. I can connect ok, but whenever I try to initiate or join a video conference it just refuses to play. I finally found a fix last night - open up ichat, go to preferences, accounts, server settings - change the port to 443 and you're away! I can now happily video chat from anywhere with my data card...

Hi, I have also been trying to use iChat 2 with OS X 13 and a vodafone mobile braoadband USB modem. I have not been able to connect with either voice or video in spite of changing port settings as suggested. What other tweeks did you have to do?

Hi Thomas,

I'm using iChat 3 on Mac OS 10.4.10, which may explain it. You might want to add 'appleu3test01', 'appleu3test02' and 'appleu3test03' to your contact list - these are test contacts from Apple which allow you to get iChat going without disturbing your real friends ;-)
