About this site
Hi, I'm James, the founder of MobileBroadbandRocks.com.
Prior to setting up this site, I was a product manager for five years at Vodafone UK, responsible for mobile broadband. During my time at Vodafone, I launched the first mobile broadband service in the UK, the first USB dongle and even the first netbook with built-in mobile broadband. I spent much of my time watching and responding to the changing mobile broadband market - from launching new devices and technologies through to designing new price plans in response to increasing competition.
I left Vodafone in January 2009 to follow my passion for travel. I spent 8 months travelling in Asia with a backpack and a mobile broadband netbook and now I live in Beijing, China where amongst other things I run this website.
This site originally started life as a blog which was my soapbox to share the knowledge I've gained over the last five years whilst working in the mobile industry. The blog was far more successful than I ever imagined and proved to be a popular site for visitors to discuss the latest developments and share tips, tricks and hacks for mobile broadband devices. In December 2009 I decided to re-build and relaunch the site as a place to get support from the community of mobile broadband users - from reviews of networks and devices, through to finding the best deals and getting technical support.
Mobile Broadband Rocks is powered by the feedback and knowledge of its visitors - i.e. YOU! If you're a mobile broadband user it would be great if you could take a couple of minutes to share your experiences by writing a review, or pop into the forums and see if you can help other users who are having problems. If you stumble across an interesting download - for example a new firmware or software update - please share it in the downloads section.
If you want to get in touch please leave a comment or email james@mobilebroadbandrocks.com. Although I'm afraid I can't guarantee to respond to each email individually, all comments and feedback are greatly appreciated.
THANKS, James
