Huawei E220 Firmware v11.117.10.02.00
Big thanks to the guys who pointed out that there's a new firmware available for the E220. Version 11.117.10.02 continues to bring 7.2Mbps support to the modem and is a recommended update for all users.
Vodafone ExpressCard Firmware Update
It looks like there have been some compatibility issues between the Huawei E870 ExpressCard where the card will not power up correctly (normally resulting in the LED indicator going a solid colour as soon as it is plugged in or no lights at all). This has been seen on certain models of Advent, E-Systems, Fujitsu Siemens and Dell machines to name a few. This firmware update will resolve these issues.
It looks like this can be applied on the machine its failing in as long as the Huawei 3G PC UI Interface device component is visible in Device Manager under Ports.

We’ve got our mits on the latest firmware from Huawei for the E220. This firmware enables 7.2Mbps support.
Huawei E220 - 7.2Mbps firmware update
I've just got my mits on the latest firmware for the Vodafone Huawei E220. This update upgrades the modem to download at speeds up to 7.2Mbps - compared to the standard 3.6Mbps. I've just installed it and run a speed test in a 7.2Mbps area and I'm getting average speeds of around 2.5Mbps, peaking at 4.3Mbps (see the NetPerSec screenshot).
Linksys 3G router (WRT54G3G) firmware
Just spotted a firmware update for the Linksys WRT54G3G - this is the WiFi router that has a PC Card slot, into which you can put a data card. I've just taken a peek at the revision notes for this update and it's added support for the Option HSUPA ExpressCard (Etna / GE0301), when combined with the PC Card adaptor sleeve. You'll notice in the revision notes that it doesn't support the NDIS variant of these cards - Vodafone UK ship these cards with a modem interface, therefore they'll work a-ok with this router.
