Huawei E220 Firmware v11.117.10.02.00

UPDATE: please see this firmware download for the latest E220 update.

Big thanks to the guys who pointed out that there's a new firmware available for the E220. Version 11.117.10.02 continues to bring 7.2Mbps support to the modem and is a recommended update for all users.

When I tried the update on my E226 it said that the current version on my modem is "11.310.15.00.129"
I guess is pointless for me to "update", right?

Have just downloaded and updated from Maxis Broadband.

Firmware 11.117.10.03.99
Dashboard 11.030.01.10.99

Firmware update worked fine with original Dashboard
Huawei UTPS11.002.03.16.03

New Maxis Broadband branded Dashboard has only
limited branding, basically updated Huawei with
a change of program name and install folder. Also
NOTE, it loses your profiles and replaces them with
a Maxis profile, so export your profiles before upgrading.
A good idea to make a note of all entries in the options
menu just in case they are not compatible with your
current provider.

Also, handy to have at least one extra
profile with alternate DNS servers, duplicate your
initial profile and change the DNS servers to
STATIC 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 which are
the free OPENDNS servers.

Yes I have and if you unlock it as well, it's so much better.

I used to get a maximum 1.2Mbps (very rarely) with T-Mobile UK, now with Vodafone UK I regularly get 2.6Mbps.

Addendum to 2 posts above:-

The Maxis Broadband Dashboard 11.030.01.10.99 seems
to give up/download speed in bits per second rather than
bytes, may decide to revert to old Huawei version just
because of this. My original THREE software did similar,
I suppose that this results in fewer complaints to the
providers as their rate is advertised in bits/second.
Glad to hear that the firmware update unlocked Tom's
dongle, could not check this myself as I purchased an
open one.

Steve, the firmware update does not unlock the E220, I had to do that myself. Google "E220 unlock" and you will find lots of methods to do it.

The Huawei UTPS11.002.03.16.03 dashboard displays the speed in Kilo Bytes Per Second (KBps) rather than Kilo Bits Per Second (kbps), notice the KB in upper case for (KBps).

To convert KBps to kbps just divide it by 0.1220703125

So, 100KBps / 0.1220703125 = 819.2kbps

Firmware & Dashboard updated all ok. Im with Optus & normally connect through my Optus Broadband toolbox. Since i did the Dashboard update, everytime i plug in the modem it brings up a "Maxis Broadband" installation wizard. Does that mean i should have just done the firmware update & not the dashboard update??

Firmware upgrade was aborted by the installer for some reason, and now the device will not show up at all. I tried to uninstall Mobile Connect in hope that the USB would show up again, however, it didn’t. Now i don’t even have the Mobile Connect software, since that was located on the USB – that doesn’t show up…

My HUAWEI E220 doesnt want to work on my SonyVGN-Z12GN with wondows vista system.It doesnt want to recognise my modem.It sees it as a usb mass storage device.If tried everything.
