The file also contains a Maxis Broadband dashboard - the Mobile Partner dashboard, but with the Maxis Broadband branding. Installation of the dashboard is optional.

I have just tried to update the firmware on my e220.
it started to update then said it couldn't carry on. now my modem wont work, what should I do now?

Hi Wayne, it seems that 11.313 is locked to a particular provider (Norway?)and can't be used by everyone, thus bricking your modem when flashing it - making it unusable. I haven't confirmed this myself but thats what most people are saying.
You are always safest using firmware provided by your network operator. Also see if they can fix it (unlikely).

How do you know if a given firmware is network locked or not? So netcom is locked but maxis is not?
And how come flashing an operator firmware locks your device but flashing an open one doesnt unlock it?

I have installed the firmware with success on my Huawei E-220 (product of the algerian mobile operator Nedjma).
But I advise you to not install the Dashboard included on the zip file !

Would be nice if you could pack it with the latest Huawei Dashboard (Generic) and Windows 7 capable Firmware
that would be easier for newcomers as that modem is extremely cheap these days
