Vodafone Dashboard v9.1.2 - Vista 64bit support

After a gentle prod from Great_Date, here's a post with the latest version of the full PC dashboard for mobile connect users. The key feature of this release is the support for 64bit editions of Windows Vista - it'll even allow you to use your Huawei E220 / Vodafone USB Modem. The full list of 64bit devices includes:

  • Option GlobeTrotter Nozomi (HSDPA PC Card)
  • Option Fuji Lite (7.2 ExpressCard)
  • Option Colt (3G only PC Card)
  • Huawei E220 (HSDPA USB Modem)
  • Huawei E618, E620, E621 (PC Cards)
  • Huawei E800, E870 (ExpressCards)
Works with the following devices:

Hey fatcat,

managed to pull the drivers out of the voda package and have finally managed to get the modem working on 64-bit Vista on the 3 network in Ireland.

Thanks for all of the info.........you've really made my day!

Great news....
Any ideas on how to get it to recognise the E220 USB modem?

Cheers
Matt

Does this Program also works in Austria?

MobileBroadbandRocks's picture

Yes, this will work in Austria.

Matt_P,

not sure what it is you are asking exactly. Can you clarify? You asking how to get Vista to recognise the modem, or the Voda s/w?

Anonymous's picture

Hi- can this solution work for 3 in Ireland?

Anonymous's picture

Hi there- can you provide any further info to a very frustrated three customer who can't get the 3datamodem to work on Vista 64 Home Premium edition, particularly the point about pulling the drivers out of the voda package. thanks

Anonymous's picture

Hi

Will this work with XP x64 as well. thanks

Anonymous's picture

Goose......best thing to do is install the Vodafone software completely, with the USB modem plugged out. The package includes the drivers for 64-bit version of Vista.

Once installed, hook up the 3 modem and give it a few mins, and Vista should attempt to install the drivers for the modem. Once it comes back and says it can't find the drivers, choose 'I do not have the disk .......' or something to that effect, and then select 'Manually search for drivers on my computer'.....then point it to the System 32 folder. It should pick up the drivers there and then all should be well.

Hi folks,

While working on the 64bit Vista and Vodafone E220 problem for a customer I compiled all the info I could find from this site and fatcat etc. To save me having to go through the hassle again and to save some others I've posted a step-by-step (more or less!) here: http://www.evolveonline.ie/blog/2008/05/how-to-install-vodafone-huawei-e...

Hope it helps.

Just came along this very nice solution, I bought it a couple of days ago and it works great.

It is a self-powered USB UMTS Stick, very small with a internal antenna which can be exchanged for a BIG one, enhancing the receiption. Even with the small antenna, reception is great, better than on my HTC TyTN and Palm Treo 750v.

The USB modem doesn't eat too much performace, you get almost the same battery life like with WLan activated (it has to be turned off when using the USB UMTS/3G modem).

The only downside is: the price tag. I paid almost 49Euro for this little baby but to be honest, it is worth every single cent. It is really small, aprox. the size of half of a cigarette package.

Here's the link to the product, I bought it from a retailer in Germany.

Check this Page -> Aldi

There were also Windows Vista and Windows 7 drivers available on the CD-ROM which came with the modem but I tried to install them and Vista recognized the modem for a couple of minutes but then drops the connection and tells me that it can't detect the modem. Apparently the drivers aren't fully compatible yet, so I'm using this modem with Windows XP Pro only right now. It is however a very good sign that there are already Vista drivers available, meaning that sooner or later, full support without any more trouble will be available.

Hi.

I have XP 64-bit (x64) operating system.

Here is the solution to launch vodafone modem on XP x64 system (I think it also possible on vista x64 and w7) and shift the "Administrative privileges" error.

My modem is Vodafone (huawei) K3520 (e169). I think, other modems are supported too.

Before You start, CALL YOUR LOCAL OPERATOR to get the user name and phone number of connection or prepare it, if You have :-).

For vodafone/bite Latvia they are:
*99#
internet

Sequence of operations:

1. Insert your stick in free usb port. Cancel autoload of installer or click OK on error message.
2. Your vodafone stick will be recognized as USB mass storage device.
3. Download and extract drivers (for manual install, istead of vodafone mobile connect).
Follow the link: http://rapidshare.com/files/98165936/huawei_e220_XP64.zip.html
4. Right-click on "my computer" and select "properties" tab (or press WIN+break buttons instead).
5. In opened window select the "Hardware" tab and press "Device Manager" button in it.
6. Go to "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and expand [+] it.
7. Explore only "USB Mass Storage Devices" and find the right one (double click on them or right-click+properties) - in "general" tab "location" line must contain "Huawei Mobile" or smth. like that.
8. In correct one, go to the "Driver" tab and press "Uninstall" button below.
9. After uninstalling, XP tries to reboot your vodafone stick, and in "Device Manager" windows You will see new group [+] of unrecognized devices, marked with yellow question marks (in my case, there was huawei 3G modem + 4 data ports)
10. Double click on line containing "3G" or something like that, and in opened window press "Reinstall Driver..." button.
11. Select "No, not this time" in internet connection advice window, and "Install from a specific location" in the next window. Then, mark the "Include this location in the search" and hit Browse to select previously downloaded driver folder (step 3.). Press Next and Finish.
12. Complete step 10-11 for other Yellow question marks lines related to 3G modem group.

13. After that. Go to "My Computer", "Control Panel", "Network Connections" and in folder network tasks (left menu) press "Create a new connection".
14. In new window hit next, then next ("connect to the internet" radio button checked), then "Set up my connection manually", "Connect, using a dial-up modem". Input ISP name (any) and hit next, phone number (Call your local operator or input it here) and hit next.
Get "Username" from your local operator, but password is your Vodafone stick sim PIN. Check/uncheck options below and hit next/finish.
15. Now You have connection configured and can start it from desktop or "network connection" folder.

:-)

I have just got X64 with Windows 7 on new HP laptop. Vodafone USB will not work - but worse it will not uninstall using Control Panel.

It keeps asking for certain vodafone lite programmes to be stopped but they are not running. Any advice please
