Generally, the agate matched by the gold shop is real, but not very good agate. I've seen gold oyster with red agate. It should be Brazilian Agate. If you want better agate, you'd better buy it yourself and buy your own string. I recommend South Red Agate for better red agate. Black Obsidian is recommended.
Apart from those precious agates, the others are not worth much. There is no need to fake them. In fact, the cost of raw materials is lower than that of fake ones
